Road:
The Airport is well served by the motorway network. Dual carriageways connect the Airport directly with the M56 (Junction 12), M57 (Junction 1) and M62 (Junction 6).

Car Hire:
Please refer to the Airport Terminal Information page for the companies who have reservation desks and key-drop facilities at the airport.

Taxi:
A taxi rank is situated immediately outside the front door of the Arrivals area of the terminal building. There is an office inside the terminal building on Level 1 that will assist passengers with their onward travel arrangements using the black hackney vehicles. This is operated by Passenger Transport Solutions and their telephone number is 0151 907 1185.

Express Coaches:

An express coach service connecting the airport with the city centre, serving the main hotels, railway, coach and bus stations operates every 20 minutes during the day on Mondays to Saturdays, reducing to a 30 minute frequency in the evenings and on Sundays. The stops are shown in the timetable and on the coach. The driver will advise passengers of their most suitable stop, if required. Fare £2.50 single, children £1. Euros are also accepted. Pay the driver on entry or book online by selecting the National Express website from our Links page. Enter From: "Liverpool Airport" and To: "Liverpool" or vice versa, as appropriate, and the dates of travel. Then follow the instructions.

The first service leaves the airport at 0510 (0530 on Saturday and Sunday), and is a limited stop service arriving at Norton Street Coach Station at 0548, Lime Street Station at 0555, Paradise Street Interchange at 0605 and arrives back at the airport at 0630. The last service leaves the airport at midnight, calling at Norton Street Coach Station at 0035, Lime Street Station at 0042, Paradise Street Interchange at 0052 and arrives back at the airport at 0112.

Journeys operate via the Estuary Commerce Park on Mondays to Fridays only until early evening. Arriva "Airlink" Express Coach Service No: 700 (Airport to Manchester Piccadilly and vice versa):

An express coach service operates every hour between the airport and Manchester Piccadilly railway station and vice versa. From the airport the first service is at 0530 and the last at 0030. From Manchester the first service is at 0400 and the last at 2300. Return fares are £7 (12 euros) for adults with half fare for children. Intermediate stops are at Widnes Vicarage Road, Burtonwood Services on the M62, the Eccles Interchange, Salford (Regent Road) and Chorlton Street (Manchester). Tickets can be booked online by selecting the National Express website from our Links page. Terravision Express Coach Link from the Airport to Manchester and vice versa:

This express coach service operates between the airport and Manchester Shudehill Interchange and vice versa. From the airport the first service is at 0800 and the last departing at 0540. From Manchester the first service is at 0330 and the last departure is at 2200. Journey time is approximately one hour and timings largely coincide with peak arrival and departure times of the major airlines. There are a total of 26 services operating each day. Fare is £5.50 adult and £3 child. Euros are accepted. An intermediate stop will be made at Sackville Street (Manchester) in both directions. Further information and online booking can be obtained from their website which can be accessed from our Links page. A Terravision Travel Advisor is on duty most of the time and can be usually found outside at the bus stands or, if not, at one of the Terravision kiosks which are located near the Arrivals area and at the Check-in Hall inside the Terminal Building. Tickets can also be purchased from Terravision representatives in the Check-in Areas at some of the European airports serving Liverpool by Ryanair.

Busybus - Executive Minicoaches:

Busybus offer minicoach hire for between 6 and 15 passengers to and from the airport and cover a range of up to 50 miles. See their website, accessed from our Links page, for full details and online booking.

Liverpool South Parkway rail station is a convenient interchange for the airport with a fast and frequent bus connecting service (EQ)

ARRIVA buses operate the following services under the "Airlink" banner:

  • 80A: Airport - Estuary Business Park (daytime only) - Liverpool South Parkway rail interchange - Penny Lane - Paradise Street Interchange, City Centre (and vice versa). Operates every 15 minutes during the day (Monday-Saturday) and every 30 minutes in the evening, Sundays and Public Holidays.

  • 81A: Airport - Hunts Cross - Broad Green - Queens Drive - Bootle New Strand (and vice versa). Operates every 20 minutes during the day, Monday to Saturday.

  • 82A: Runcorn - Widnes - Hale - Airport - Garston - Aigburth Vale - Paradise Street Interchange, City Centre (and vice versa). Operates every 15 minutes during the day (Monday-Saturday) and every 30 minutes in the evening, Sundays and Public Holidays.

  • 86A: Airport - Estuary Business Park - Liverpool South Parkway rail interchange - Paradise Street Interchange, Liverpool City Centre. This service will operate 24 hours a day on a10 minute frequency during the day and half hourly through the night as the N86. This is a normal stage carriage service between Paradise Street and Liverpool South Parkway and then stops only at the Estuary Business Park and then on to the airport and vice versa. A new fleet of double decker buses with ample luggage storage has been introduced onto the route. Some 86D services also operate from the airport into the city centre.

  • 89: Airport - Hunts Cross - Huyton - Prescot - Whiston Hospital - St Helens. Operates every 20 minutes during the day and half hourly in the evenings and Sundays. Note that the first three services from St Helens in the morning (0540, 0610 and 0640) operate as service 889, have a different routing by operating via Halewood instead of Hunts Cross and do not call at Speke North Parade, continuing on to Liverpool South Parkway rail interchange after the airport.

Ring their "Customer Hotline" on 08701 20 10 88 (Monday to Friday 0800 - 1700) for precise information as some services vary at weekends, etc.. ARRIVA will also post a timetable to you on request, free of charge. Public transport information can also be obtained by ringing Traveline on 0870 608 2 608. MERSEYTRAVEL service 886 connecting Halewood (Ravenscourt Bus Facility) and Liverpool South Parkway rail interchange, via the Jaguar Plant, Speke South Parade, the AIRPORT, Estuary Business Park and Garston (Speke Road) operates daily at 30 minute intervals between 0705 and 1835. This service also operates in the reverse direction at the same times.

MERSEYTRAVEL JOBLINK - this minibus provides an hourly service to major places of employment from early morning (4.30am) to late at night (10.30pm). They are particularly useful for shift workers. Ring Traveline Merseyside on 0870 608 2608 for further information. At present the service routes as follows:

883 Airport - Estuary Business Park - Jaguar - Halewood - Belle Vale - Huyton - Huyton Industrial Estate (and in the reverse direction)

Rail:

See the above bus information on connections between the airport and Liverpool South Parkway rail interchange.

The interchange offers the following services:

  • Merseyrail Northern Line: Hunts Cross via the city centre to Southport every 15 minutes and every 30 minutes on Sundays. Operated by Merseyrail Electrics.

  • Merseyrail City line: Liverpool Lime Street to Warrington and Manchester Oxford Road every 30 minutes weekdays, hourly evenings and Sundays. Operated by Northern Rail.

  • Liverpool Lime Street to Birmingham New Street hourly on Monday to Saturday, calling at intermediate stations including Runcorn, Crewe, Stafford and Wolverhampton. Operated by London Midland Trains.

  • Additional services are anticipated from the end of 2008. The West Coast main line to London can be accessed from either Liverpool Lime Street or Runcorn.

  • If rail tickets are booked through to "Liverpool John Lennon Airport" or by specifying a "Plus Bus" ticket the fare will include the bus link to and from the airport. Rail tickets departing from Liverpool South Parkway can be bought at ticket machines close to the airport's Information Desk but this does not include the bus link.

Accommodation:
* 1. Hotels at or near the airport: One mile from the airport is the Liverpool Marriott Hotel South (to become the Crowne Plaza Liverpool - John Lennon Airport from 1 August 2008).
